Festival of Life: Yayoi Kusama

I had the pleasure of visiting Yayoi Kusama's new exhibit at the David Zwirner Gallery yesterday and it was definitely worth the 45 minute wait. I went on a Thursday at around 2:30 PM and the line seemed to move at a swift pace. As whole I loved every second of being there. I mean, I'm a huge fan of art that allows you to leave this world and visit another realm, and Kusama successfully allowed that to happen. My only complaint is that everything was timed and the moment I was able to adjust to Kusama's world, I was told my time was up. You get one minute in that infinity room; ONE FREAKING MINUTE! It honestly felt like 5 seconds cause the moment I steped into that room I was completely overwhelmed and had no idea what to do with myself. My mind started exploding with thoughts: "WHERE DO I TAKE THE SELFIE?! HERE OR OVER THERE? WAIT I SHOULD PUT MY PHONE DOWN AND BE PRESENT." After it was all done I talked about it with my friend Kristin and she mentioned how it could all be a social experiment and I completely agreed with her. I mean this exhibit has INSTAGRAM stamped all over it, and our theory is that most people go just for the gram, and i'm kinda guilty of it. So my advice is to go twice. The first time you go, put your phone away and just enjoy the world that Yayoi Kusama has created, and the second time is when you can go crazy with the selfies. Anyways, despite it being such a rushed experience, I highly recommend that you go see it, it's worth the wait!
